1.7.6 Standards

ISO/IEC Guide 2:2004 (International Organisation for Standardisation) defines a standard as a document, established byImage of the Building Code of Australia 2005 consensus and approved by a recognized body, that provides, for common and repeated use, rules, guidelines or characteristics for activities or their results, aimed at the achievement of the optimum degree of order in a given context.

 Use standards to:

  • find a standard procedure;
  • find a building regulation;
  • find a legal requirement.

Examples:

  • AS 3610 Formwork for concrete (Australian Standards - see Standards On-Line Premium database)
  • Building Code of Australia
  • International Organisation for Standardisation -ISO 9000
